The Birchview Center is a collaborative group of providers who specialize in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Anxiety Disorders, and related conditions. Our mission is to provide a safe and comfortable place to help you face your fears, grow to be the person you want to be, and continue your journey to recovery. Our vision is to provide access to high-quality, evidence-based care while also providing emotional and family support. We provide outpatient treatment services, educational workshops, peer group interventions, and wellness services.
Meet Dr. Maria Mancebo
Dr. Maria Mancebo is the founder and director of the Birchview Center. She is a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience specializing in OCD, anxiety disorders, and hoarding disorder. She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University’s internationally recognized OCD Research Program. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University.
A recognized leader in her field, Dr. Mancebo has:
- Extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) with specific expertise in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
- Conducted NIH-funded research
- Published studies on the long-term course of OCD and the effectiveness of behavioral treatments.
- Developed and directed intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for OCD and anxiety.
- Presented workshops at national and international conferences
Dr. Mancebo’s work combines clinical expertise with research-driven strategies, ensuring clients receive the most effective, up-to-date care available.
